Making a significant and lasting difference for impoverished children.

Our mission is to Help Overcome Poverty Everyday (H.O.P.E.)
To Give H.O.P.E. established the first after-school center in a struggling community on the outskirts of Quito, Ecuador, where urgent needs are all too clear. The majority of children here face poverty, chronic abuse, malnutrition, and deep-seated trauma, leaving them in desperate need of a nurturing environment and resources to help them navigate their challenges. In light of this tremendous need, we created our own center where children have access to caring teachers, wholesome meals, filtered water, essential vitamins, dental care, academic support, and crucial therapy to begin healing.
Currently, up to 185 children, ages 1-18, seek refuge here, choosing this safe space over the perils of substance abuse, child labor, and gang involvement. At our To Give Hope Center, children meet a devoted staff eager to engage them in educational activities, creative crafts, fun games, and invigorating sports. This haven of safety is vital, offering hope against the alarming threats of child labor, street life, gang engagement, and substance abuse that loom over them daily.
For over 20 years, To Give H.O.P.E. has been a heartfelt source of stability, comfort, and support for children in need, igniting positive transformations in their lives. Your generous contributions have truly made a remarkable difference. We have provided clothing and nourishing foods at our center and for them to take home, taught essential values to help them navigate life’s complexities, intervened to stop bullying and rebuild their self-esteem, assisted children in breaking free from addictions, and ensured they never go to bed feeling hungry. Additionally, we offer workshops for parents to address domestic violence, addiction, and effective parenting, leading to many children reporting that their parents have become less physically and verbally abusive.
We received a heartfelt message from Mrs. Porozo expressing the enormity of this need: “I am at a loss for words to express the great love I have for you all. How could I not thank people with such noble hearts who care for us? God bless everyone at To Give H.O.P.E. and all the board members. May God reward you and help us all to overcome challenges. Many blessings to all your families from the Porozo family and Gilson, who loves you very much!” This sentiment reinforces our commitment to addressing these urgent issues and finding solutions together.
Show Your Support
There are many different ways to help support our efforts. Local opportunities, sponsoring a classroom and donating are all valuable ways to make a significant impact. Your financial support will help maintain and expand our educational, psychological and medical service to impoverished children. We have no overhead costs due to our generous volunteers. We are a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization and your donation is tax deductible.

Success Stories
William Segarra
William came from a poor family of 7 siblings. When he first began coming over 10 years ago to our program he was already working long hours to help support his family.
To Give H.O.P.E. (TGH) gave employment to his mother working at the program so she could be closer to her children and receive a fair wage. William found at TGH the opportunity to focus on schoolwork, and pursue his passion. He received the support he needed to win a scholarship to study culinary arts at the South American Institute.
William will graduate this year and is just a few months away from beginning his career as a chef, putting the cycle of poverty behind him.

Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
Jomayra faced neglect and abuse and thought about suicide at age 9. For the past 20 years, To Give H.O.P.E. has supported her with scholarships for uniforms, shoes, backpacks, school registrations, books, eyeglasses, medical care, and therapy. We are proud to have seen her grow, start a family, and leave a dangerous job. Now, she works at To Give H.O.P.E. and understands the struggles of the children, making her a compassionate teacher. As interim director, she helped create a program where she takes the neediest children shopping for clothes and shoes. In addition, the children receive a food basket, school supplies, and vitamins.
Please see the past letters from Jomayra that demonstrate her sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the support she has received from To Give H.O.P.E.
Whether you assist from a distance or visit our center, we are here to discuss your interests and help you create an unforgettable experience.
